Boxing Conditioning

Because boxing is an explosive sport, ballistic training methods are especially effective during weight training for boxing. Learn how to improve your strength and agility for boxing while focusing on reactive power, power endurance, muscular endurance, anaerobic endurance, and aerobic endurance.

The primary aims of conditioning for boxing are to delay the onset of fatigue by increasing tolerance to lactic acid build-up, to increase stores of phospho-creatine to produce ATP, to delay the pre-mature use of the lactic acid system, to improve efficiency of oxygen use, and to improve recovery between intense bursts of activity.

(No skill level is required for this class as it is geared to teach the fundamentals while conditioning. No equipment is needed for the first class and students will then learn what they will need as class goes on.)

Cardio Kick-Boxing

Cardio kick-boxing — a combination of aerobics, boxing, and martial arts — is one of the most popular fitness trends to hit gymnasiums in recent years. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) notes that, during a one-hour kickboxing workout, you can burn from 500 to 800 calories, which is up to twice the calories you would burn during a one-hour step-aerobics class! This intense, total-body workout can improve strength, aerobic fitness, flexibility, coordination, and balance.

(Kick-boxing is not necessarily geared toward the beginner. Beginning cardio kick-boxers must already have above-average endurance, strength, and flexibility.)

Self Defense

Strength, Patience, Stability ... These are just a few of the characteristics that you will find within yourself through these classes. Participants will learn how to properly defend themselves against potential attackers by utilizing advanced tactics that are taught and used by military personnel.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)

Participants are safely shown and allowed to demonstrate techniques from various forms of martial arts, ranging from Brazilian Jujitsu to Muay Thai, while also increasing their stamina. Building from fundamental techniques in a series of grappling drills, the rest of the program is taught as drill series that can be performed as part of daily physical training. Beginners welcome.

(Participants must be 14 years and up.)

30-Day Weight Loss Challenge

This is an eight week program led by real former contestants from NBC's hit television show The Biggest Loser. Darrell and Andrea Hough share stories and secrets with you, and help you learn how to implement the basics that made them a success in their weight loss battle!

During this 8 week period, you will be afforded four 30 minute personal training sessions, be taken on grocery store tours, be involved in group conference calls, and more. You will have the support of the entire A2 Fitness Professionals team throughout your entire journey: all 8 weeks and beyond!

Zumba

Our Zumba workout mixes body-sculpting movements with dance steps derived from cumbia, merengue, salsa, reggaeton, hip hop, mambo, rumba, flamenco, calypso, and Saslsaton. Participants will pump their legs, windmill their arms, gyrate their hips, clap their hands, dip, slide, and spin — all to a frenzied beat that leaves you with flushed cheeks and dripping in sweat! Zumba is not only an amazing cardio workout, it's incredibly fun — You don't always have to torture yourself to be fit!
